About this role

In this rapidly changing world, the Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Health (CCEH) is advancing research on how climate change, air pollution, and extreme environmental conditions affect human health. By bringing together expertise across environmental science, exposure assessment, epidemiology, and public health, CCEH develops evidence-based solutions to support healthier and more climate-resilient communities in Singapore and across Asia.

Within CCEH, the Environmental Health team, led by Prof. Steve Yim, investigates the interactions between climate, air quality, and human health using integrated measurement, modelling, and statistical approaches. The team works across multiple spatial scales to understand how environmental exposures affect human health and to generate scientific evidence for public health policy and workforce protection strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

The position will support research on the health impacts of heat exposure, temperature extremes, and climate-related environmental change. The role will contribute to studies examining how rising temperatures affect human health, wellbeing, vulnerability, and broader societal outcomes across populations and regions. The successful candidate will support the analysis and interpretation of climate, environmental, health, and socioeconomic data using statistical and spatiotemporal approaches, contribute to research publications and reports, and collaborate with research partners to strengthen the Centre’s evidence base for climate adaptation and public health policy.

Job Requirements:

  • Have a Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science, climate science, environmental health, environmental science, public health, epidemiology, geography, or a related discipline.

  • Have research experience in climate change and health, heat exposure, temperature extremes, or related environmental health research.

  • Have experience in analysing climate, environmental, health, or socioeconomic data, preferably in relation to temperature-related health risks.

  • Have experience in statistical and spatiotemporal analysis using R, Python, MATLAB, or similar analytical tools.

  • Have good organizational and communication skills, and evidence of the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

  • Evidence of strong academic writing skills and the ability to contribute to scientific publications and other research outputs will be advantageous.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
