Northside Gwinnett's Inpatient Surgery department is a 24-hour service unit at a Level II Trauma Center. It consists of 14 operating rooms, which primarily oversee specialties including Orthopedic, Neuro/Ortho Spine, General, Oral, Urology, Gynecological, Vascular and minimal cases including Plastics, Eyes, ENT, and Thoracic. We offer robotic assisted surgeries using the da Vinci Xi in Urology, General, and Gynecological services.  

 

Gwinnett Inpatient Surgery has 8-, 10-, and 12- hour shifts available for nurses . Call is required for most positions starting at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Call on the weekends is 48 hours from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. There are also call/in-house requirements for holidays. 

Responsibilities

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  •  

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

  • BSN degree
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  • Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  • Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
  • Work Hours:

    Varies
