Key job responsibilities
As an Mechanical Engineer in the Manipulation Workcell Hardware team you will:
- Design and develop robotic work cell hardware from concept through production, including specifications, design, prototyping, testing, and validation collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Integrate industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells, and specify components such as motors, actuators, pneumatics, sensors, and safety systems
- Conduct mechanical systems analysis using finite element analysis tools and traditional calculations to validate design performance
- Create comprehensive design documentation including drawings, requirements, functional specifications, and validation plans to support future iterations and compliance
- Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and vendor partners to ensure successful product launch and ongoing support
A day in the life
As a Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer on our Manipulation Workcell Hardware team, your day might involve deep technical analysis of mechanical and mechatronic components, presenting your product vision to program stakeholders and customers, or traveling on-site to partner directly with teams using your hardware solutions. You'll tackle the challenges inherent in designing state-of-the-art robotic work cells, working in a fast-paced environment where you'll partner with systems engineers, software developers, project managers, quality specialists, and safety teams. Your work spans the full product lifecycle—from initial specifications and design through prototyping, testing, validation, and manufacturing at scale.

- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency with computer-aided design software
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems and motion control principles
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency with computer-aided design software
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems and motion control principles
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
