Experience Required: 3+ years

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our product engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving both manual and automation testing for a complex analytics platform that combines capabilities similar to modern Business Intelligence (BI) and data analytics tools.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical thinking, excellent automation skills, and strong experience working with relational databases. You must be highly proficient in writing complex data queries to validate intricate business scenarios across massive datasets, data visualizations, APIs, and metadata-driven architectures. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for web-based analytics applications.
  • Perform both manual and automation testing across functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Validate complex business use cases involving reports, dashboards, filters, calculations, and data transformations.
  • Create and maintain scalable automation frameworks and reusable test suites.
  • Write complex SQL queries to validate backend data, aggregations, joins, stored procedures, and business logic.
  • Perform API testing using REST services and validate JSON request/response payloads.
  • Test metadata-driven and JSON-based application architectures, ensuring correctness of configuration-driven workflows.
  • Validate analytics features such as visualizations, drill-downs, cross-filtering, sorting, grouping, aggregations, calculated fields, and report interactions.
  • Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers to resolve defects.
  • Participate in requirement discussions to identify edge cases and define test scenarios early in the development lifecycle.
  • Execute performance-oriented functional validations for large datasets and complex reporting scenarios.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, automation efficiency, and release quality.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, and QA teams throughout the SDLC.
Required Skills Testing
  • Strong expertise in Manual Testing and Test Design.
  • Experience in Automation Testing using Java/JavaScript/TypeScript/Python (any one).
  • Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar automation frameworks.
  • API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong understanding of Regression, Smoke, Sanity, Integration, and End-to-End Testing.
SQL & Data Validation
  • Strong command of SQL with experience writing complex queries.
  • Ability to validate joins, aggregations, window functions, subqueries, CTEs, and large datasets.
  • Experience validating ETL pipelines or analytical data models is preferred.
Analytics & Business Validation
  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence and Analytics platforms.
  • Ability to validate:
    • Dashboards
    • Reports
    • KPIs
    • Charts and Visualizations
    • Filters
    • Drill-down/Drill-through
    • Calculated Metrics
    • Data Accuracy
  • Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into comprehensive test scenarios.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of JSON structures and metadata-driven architectures.
  • Experience testing configuration-based or JSON-configured applications.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and API integrations.
  • Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Analytical Skills
  • Excellent debugging and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to test highly configurable and complex enterprise applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on BI/Analytics products similar to Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik, or ThoughtSpot.
  • Exposure to complex reporting platforms or enterprise SaaS products.
  • Knowledge of performance testing is an advantage.
Required Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Testing/SDET.
  • Proven experience in both Manual and Automation Testing.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL-heavy enterprise applications.
  • Experience testing complex web applications with metadata or JSON-driven architectures.
