Job Title / Designation: Faculty –  Screenwriting & Film Direction

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced academic professional in Screenwriting and Film Direction to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in narrative development, character creation, script structuring, and visual storytelling. In addition to teaching fundamental and advanced filmmaking courses, the candidate will be responsible for mentoring students, developing curriculum, and contributing to the academic and creative environment of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Curriculum Development:

• Design and deliver fundamental and advanced courses in Screenwriting and Film Direction.
• Develop engaging lesson plans covering narrative structure, character development, shot composition, directing techniques, and production workflow.
• Guide students through the process of scriptwriting, pre-production, directing actors, cinematography, and post-production.
• Introduce students to industry-standard software such as Final Draft, short lister.
• Arrange / plan workshops, guest lectures, and interactive sessions on visual storytelling and filmmaking techniques.

Academic & Research Contributions:

• Stay updated with emerging trends in filmmaking, storytelling techniques, and digital media.
• Encourage students to engage in research projects, film critiques, and practical filmmaking assignments.
• Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring alignment with industry standards and academic excellence.
• Participate in departmental meetings, faculty development programs, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Support academic team with the required documentation for the Seamedu and University processes.

Mentorship & Student Guidance:

• Provide academic and career mentorship to students pursuing careers in filmmaking.
• Guide students through their short films, scriptwriting projects, and creative portfolios.
• Evaluate student performances through assignments, screenings, and project-based assessments.

Minimum/Maximum/ Work Experience Required: Master’s degree with 5 years of industry experience / Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of industry experience

Minimu m Education Requirements: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Filmmaking, Screenwriting, Film Studies, or a related field.

Any other skill set: 

• Professional experience in screenwriting and film direction, with a strong portfolio of past work.
• Demonstrated ability to teach fundamental and advanced filmmaking concepts.
• Proficiency in script development, directing actors, cinematography, and post-production techniques.
• Familiarity with film theory, storytelling structures, and industry trends.
• Strong communication and leadership skills in an academic setting.
