Summary

The Security/EMT Representative is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for members, guests, employees, residents, and visitors. This position combines security responsibilities, emergency medical response, guest service, incident reporting, parking enforcement, and property patrols.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Security and Property Protection

  • Patrol hotel, club, restaurant, parking, beach, residential, and employee areas.

  • Monitor the property for suspicious activity, safety hazards, unauthorized access, and violations of property policies.

  • Secure doors, gates, offices, storage areas, and other designated locations.

  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, guest complaints, employee concerns, and requests for assistance.

  • Verify member, guest, vendor, contractor, and employee access when required.

  • Assist with crowd control, special events, evacuations, and emergency situations.

  • Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the property.

  • Contact management, law enforcement, the fire department, or emergency medical services when appropriate.

  • Preserve incident scenes and evidence until management or responding authorities arrive.

  • Monitor security cameras and conduct footage reviews when authorized.

Emergency Medical Response

  • Respond promptly to guest, member, resident, and employee medical emergencies.

  • Assess patients and provide emergency medical care within the employee’s level of training and certification.

  • Perform first aid, CPR, and AED assistance when necessary.

  • Obtain vital signs and document patient information accurately.

  • Activate 911 and coordinate with paramedics, the fire department, or other emergency responders.

  • Remain with the patient until care is transferred to a higher level of medical authority.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements.

  • Inspect and maintain first-aid kits, AEDs, oxygen equipment, trauma supplies, and other emergency equipment.

  • Complete required Guest Accident/Illness and Employee Accident/Illness reports.

Incident Reporting and Investigations

  • Prepare clear, accurate, objective, and timely incident reports.

  • Document observations, statements, injuries, actions taken, notifications, and outcomes.

  • Take photographs and preserve relevant video footage when authorized.

  • Interview involved individuals and witnesses professionally.

  • Assist with investigations involving missing property, property damage, injuries, policy violations, and unauthorized access.

  • Immediately notify management of serious incidents involving police, fire personnel, ambulances, major injuries, threats, violence, or significant property damage.

Guest and Member Service

  • Provide courteous assistance and directions to members, guests, residents, employees, and visitors.

  • Handle sensitive or difficult situations calmly, respectfully, and professionally.

  • Assist with lost and found, vehicle issues, escorts, lockouts, and other approved service requests.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding guests, members, employees, incidents, and property operations.

  • Avoid confrontation and use effective communication and de-escalation techniques.

Parking and Traffic Control

  • Monitor parking lots, garages, loading zones, fire lanes, and restricted areas.

  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic during busy periods and special events.

  • Issue parking warnings or citations according to property procedures.

  • Document parking violations with photographs and required vehicle information.

  • Assist with disabled vehicles, traffic accidents, and towing procedures.

  • Support valet, guest services, and parking operations as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, including spills, damaged equipment, blocked exits, lighting problems, and fire hazards.

  • Place warning signs or temporarily secure hazardous areas until the condition is corrected.

  • Participate in safety inspections, drills, training sessions, and emergency-preparedness activities.

  • Understand and follow emergency procedures for fire, earthquake, power failure, severe weather, workplace violence, and evacuation.

  • Follow all company safety policies and immediately report workplace injuries.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current California EMT certification
  • Current CPR, AED, and Basic Life Support certification.
  • Must drive a company vehicle, a valid California Driver's License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security, emergency medical services, hospitality, law enforcement, military service, or public safety.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.

  • Experience working in a hotel, resort, private club, residential, or customer-service environment.

  • Familiarity with surveillance systems, access-control systems, report-writing software, and two-way radios.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read, write, and understand comprehensive correspondence, memos, and reports.  Ability to accurately document security related observations and incidents.

               

VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively and accurately present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, guests, members, and employees of the organization.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in English to customers, guests, members, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply understanding based on company policies and procedures in carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

All employees in this position must obtain and maintain current CPR & First Aid Training Cards.

SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business, staffing, or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
