Senior, Ad Tech & Data Strategy

About this role

WHY DEPT®?

We are a Growth Invention company built to help the world’s most ambitious brands grow faster. Operating at the intersection of technology and marketing, we create what is next by pioneering ideas, acting fast, and moving further because standing still just is not in our DNA.

We are drawn to people who stay curious, move with intent, and never stop inventing. Our culture runs on three values: better together, relentlessly curious, and get sh*t done. It is how we work, how we grow, and how we make things that matter.

At DEPT®, you will find the freedom to explore, the space to collaborate, and the trust to make a real impact for our clients, for each other, and for the world we are helping to build.

THE ROLE:

As a Senior, Data Technology, you are a measurement and AdTech engineer who designs as well as builds. You take a client's business objectives and turn them into data collection systems that are accurate, durable, and understood by everyone who depends on them.

You work across web and mobile. On the web, you own implementation end to end: data layers, tag architecture, server-side integrations, and conversion APIs. On mobile, you define the measurement specifications client development teams build against, then validate what they ship.

You are credible in front of clients. You can walk a marketing stakeholder through why a number moved, then join a client engineering call and work through payload structure with their developers. You bring recommendations, not just questions, and you can defend the technical reasoning behind them.

This is a senior individual contributor role with real technical ownership. You will shape how measurement gets built on your accounts, make the calls that keep those systems sound, and grow into a broader architectural and advisory scope as you do.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement web data collection systems, including data layer specifications, event schemas, tag architecture, and server-side integrations.
  • Own tag management and AdTech platform configuration (GTM, Tealium, Adobe Launch) across environments, from build through QA to production release.
  • Build and maintain conversion API and server-side event integrations (Meta CAPI, Google Ads Enhanced Conversions, Floodlight), and advise clients on match quality and signal durability.
  • Define mobile measurement specifications for client development teams, including SDK event schemas, postback mappings, and conversion value logic, then validate their releases for data accuracy.
  • Advise clients on implementation approaches and trade-offs, translating measurement requirements into technical decisions that their teams can act on.
  • Diagnose complex tracking, attribution, and data integrity issues across browser, app, and platform reporting, working with client engineers and MMP vendors to resolve root cause.
  • Set and hold the data quality standard on your accounts through validation logic, monitoring, and release QA that catches problems before clients do.
  • Document architectures, schemas, and decision rationale in a form that serves engineers and business stakeholders alike.
  • Collaborate with DEPT®'s Business Intelligence team so that collected data flows cleanly into reporting and taxonomies stay consistent across web and mobile.
  • Track ecosystem and privacy changes (Privacy Sandbox, ITP, ATT) and assess what they mean for the implementations you own.
  • Contribute to internal frameworks, tooling, and playbooks that strengthen DEPT®'s Marketing Technology practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in AdTech, MarTech, digital measurement, or data architecture, with substantial hands-on implementation experience.
  • Proven ability to design and build data collection and activation frameworks across major advertising and analytics platforms.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with tag management systems, conversion APIs, and event-based data design.
  • Working knowledge of mobile measurement and attribution, including MMPs and app analytics SDKs, and how SDK events and postbacks are specified, validated, and debugged.
  • Strong understanding of privacy and consent ecosystems (GDPR, CCPA, ATT, CMPs, server-side tagging) and their operational implications.
  • Technical fluency with JavaScript and browser data flows, able to read, write, and debug implementation code.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the credibility to present technical decisions to client engineers and explain their business impact to marketers.
  • Self-directed and organized, capable of owning multiple workstreams concurrently and driving them to completion with limited oversight.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with mobile measurement partners (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch, Kochava) or app analytics SDKs (Firebase, Amplitude).
  • Experience with event routing or CDP platforms (Segment, mParticle, Tealium, Snowplow, Hightouch).
  • Experience deploying server-side tagging in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS).
  • Familiarity with identity, attribution, or clean room frameworks.
  • SQL proficiency and exposure to cloud data ecosystems (BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS, GCP).

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We are a collaborative, open-door, best-idea-wins environment that fosters personal and company growth and has fun doing it. Here is a snapshot of our  benefits package:

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • 401k plan, plus matching
  • PTO
