Senior COBOL Developer

Our client within the Belgian public sector is looking for a Senior COBOL Developer to strengthen its application development team. The role focuses on maintaining critical legacy systems and contributing to new application developments in a structured and quality-driven environment. Requirements · Maintain and enhance existing COBOL-based applications · Develop new functionalities based on technical specifications · Translate requirements into structured technical solutions · Perform unit testing and define test plans · Support validation testing with stakeholders · Document developments and ensure delivery compliance · Collaborate within Agile and DevOps frameworks Required Skills & Expertise Must Have · Strong senior-level COBOL development experience · Experience with Linux and PL/SQL · Agile/Scrum experience · DevOps exposure · Experience with Jira · Structured testing and documentation skills · Active knowledge of Dutch, French, and English Should Have / Nice to Have · Experience in public sector or large enterprise environments · Azure DevOps experience · Knowledge of OmniTracker · Experience supporting validation/UAT processes Soft Skills · Strong analytical mindset · Detail-oriented and quality-driven · Structured and disciplined approach · Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams · Proactive knowledge sharing attitude
