You will architect and own the end-to-end solutions while upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence. In this role, you will drive the technical design of robust integrations bridging physical edge hardware (LPR) with cloud platforms. We are seeking a senior, hands-on software authority with a proven track record of building highly scalable, high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate thrives when orchestrating distributed services, managing complex datasets, and optimizing performance-sensitive workflows. Your proactive mindset will be critical in identifying technical risks and pioneering scalable, innovative architectural solutions across our engineering ecosystem.
What we are looking for:
Leadership & Mentorship: Experience acting as a technical lead, mentoring junior/intermediate engineers, and driving cross-functional architectural reviews.
Backend Expertise: Strong experience in backend development (e.g., C#, C++, or similar systems-level languages).
Data Scale & Performance: Experience working with large-scale data systems and performance optimization (e.g., database design, query efficiency, caching strategies).
Distributed Architecture: Deep familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
System Optimization: Proven capability debugging and optimizing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
Environment Proficiency: Solid understanding of Windows and Linux-based development environments.
Collaboration: Excellent communication and stakeholdership skills.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Desired Background, Knowledge, and Skills:
Experience with video systems, computer vision, or AI/ML pipelines (e.g., License Plate Recognition systems).
Familiarity with image processing or handling large binary data (e.g., images in databases vs. object storage).
Experience with containerization (Docker) and modern build systems.
Robust knowledge of cloud-connected systems and hybrid edge/cloud architectures.
Experience working with NoSQL or embedded databases (e.g., Berkeley DB or similar).
Ability to swiftly synthesize complex existing systems and execute structural improvements.
High-caliber problem-solving skills, especially in diagnosing intricate performance bottlenecks.
Proven experience collaborating within cross-functional teams (e.g., aligning with Camera, AI, and platform engineering units).
A highly proactive approach to mitigating technical debt and scaling platform capabilities.

Target Base Salary Range: $120,000 CADD - $165,000 CAD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
