About the Role
You’ll join an ambitious technical team building complex products and infrastructure from the ground up. This is not a conventional application-development role: you’ll move across frontend, backend, data, infrastructure, integrations, and architecture depending on what the problem requires.
You’ll have substantial autonomy to turn ambiguous ideas into production systems, make consequential technical decisions, and ship at an unusually high pace without lowering the engineering bar. The opportunity is best suited to an experienced builder who wants broad ownership rather than a narrowly defined engineering lane.
Responsibilities
- Own technically complex initiatives from initial problem definition and architecture through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Build scalable systems across frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and third-party platforms.
- Design solutions for challenging problems involving real-time systems, data infrastructure, distributed workflows, sophisticated integrations, or ML and data pipelines.
- Take new products and technical capabilities from 0-to-1, making sound decisions even when requirements and constraints are still evolving.
- Ship production-quality software quickly while protecting reliability, maintainability, security, and long-term scalability.
- Identify the highest-leverage technical approach instead of defaulting to unnecessary complexity or established patterns.
- Improve existing architecture and engineering systems as real-world usage reveals new performance, reliability, or scalability needs.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to translate difficult business and technical problems into working software.
- Take ownership beyond assigned tickets, proactively resolving blockers and driving important technical work through completion.
Requirements
Must-Have:
- Demonstrated success solving technically difficult problems in a high-caliber engineering environment, selective startup, technology company, consultancy, scale-up, or through equivalent technical achievement.
- Strong full-stack engineering depth, with the ability to contribute meaningfully across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and production infrastructure.
- Evidence of shipping meaningful software to production quickly and taking substantial ownership from idea through delivery.
- Experience building systems that go beyond standard CRUD applications, such as complex integrations, data-intensive platforms, real-time systems, distributed workflows, developer tooling, or ML/data infrastructure.
- Proven ability to make strong architectural and implementation decisions when requirements are incomplete or the solution is not obvious.
- Experience building a meaningful product, platform, capability, or technical system from scratch.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills for effective collaboration in a fully remote environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience building software in healthcare, health tech, or another highly regulated industry.
- Exposure to clinical workflows, healthcare data, or healthcare platform integrations.
- Experience working with privacy, security, compliance, or regulated software requirements.
- Experience designing production ML/AI pipelines or data-intensive infrastructure.
- Experience as an early engineer or technical owner responsible for establishing new systems, platforms, or engineering foundations.
