Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Accounting Manager with the preparation and distribution of daily and monthly financial reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:

  • Prepares and records journal entries in facilitation of the monthly closing of the general ledger
  • Performs account reconciliations and analysis of key financial information
  • Prepares and distributes daily and monthly financial reports
  • Prepares forecasts of various revenue and expenses
  • Coordinates and facilitates the monthly closing of the general ledger
  • Ensures financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP and in compliance with SOX

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with external and internal audits as well as other assignments
  • Assists with staff training
  • Assists in coordinating departmental objectives with subordinate staff in ensuring departmental deadlines and objectives are met
  • Complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Three years of experience in Accounting, including journal entry preparation, account analysis and financial reporting
  • Understanding of GAAP

Competencies:  Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals as it relates to Mohegan Sun
  • Building and maintaining financial reports
  • Company consolidations and capital budgeting

Training Requirements:

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting software
  • Knowledge of department policies and procedures
  • Must be HIPAA certified 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Office work environment 
  • Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
