Senior Maintenance Technician
Location: Billingham
Join a high-performing, highly regulated manufacturing site and take the lead in keeping our assets safe, compliant, and reliable. We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Maintenance Technician to supervise a small team of Electrical/Instrument and Mechanical Technicians, drive maintenance excellence, and keep the site running smoothly.
What you���ll do
- Lead and line-manage a small multi-disciplinary maintenance team (6–10 techs): set priorities, oversee training and development, and coach for safety and quality.
- Champion Safety, Quality, and Engineering best practice: run toolbox talks; ensure work complies with statutory and site standards.
- Act as a key contact in daily maintenance triage meetings; coordinate breakdowns and injected work across assets and site services.
- Perform advanced fault diagnosis, servicing, and maintenance to manufacturer standards; interpret engineering drawings, specs, and manuals.
- Own the Permit to Work process for your team: act as a multi-trade permit acceptor; manage isolations and safe handover of plant and equipment.
- Ensure cGMP and CMMS/SAP records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready (calibration, test certificates, seal changes, condition monitoring, etc.).
- Collaborate with planners to report accurate daily progress and deliverables for your team.
About you
- Time-served Apprenticeship or minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Instrument, or Mechanical Maintenance.
- Strong experience within a cGMP or similarly highly regulated environment.
- Proven ability to work independently to exacting standards and lead by example.
- Comfortable with IT/CMMS systems (SAP experience beneficial).
- Line management or team-lead experience desirable; readiness to develop multi-skill capability across disciplines.
