Leadership For Skilled Education Foundation (branded as Leadership for Equity, LFE) is a non-profit organisation based in Pune, Maharashtra, working to strengthen India’s public education system so that every child learns and thrives. We envision public education systems that refuse to let children down.
LFE partners with state and district governments across multiple states—including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana—to improve teaching practices and build sustained academic support structures within the public system. Our work is anchored in the belief that public education systems are the gatekeepers of social equity, and strengthening them is essential to ensuring that every child has access to strong foundational and future-ready learning.
Approach
LFE’s systems-change approach focuses on improving classroom practice and enabling government ownership through three core levers:
- Co-creating high-quality curricular resources and building teacher capacity
- Developing academic leadership to coach and mentor teachers
- Providing data-driven advisory support and policy implementation guidance
Our model empowers teachers as instructional leaders and embeds long-term support through government-run mentor cadres, continuous classroom observation cycles, and in-system academic structures. Technology plays a critical role, including an in-house Classroom Observation App for real-time monitoring and a WhatsApp-based teacher support chatbot for contextual resource delivery.
The approach is iterative and context-responsive, grounded in classroom realities and tailored to state and district needs. Implementation varies across geographies—whether working directly with teachers or through government-appointed mentors—ensuring relevance and feasibility within existing structures. A continuous feedback loop of training, observation, and coaching moves beyond one-time interventions toward sustained practice change. All programs are co-designed and co-implemented with government partners to ensure scale, sustainability, and systemic ownership, ultimately leading to improved student learning outcomes in foundational and future literacy.
Role Overview
The Senior Associate, Future Literacy Initiatives (FLI), will spearhead the operations, execution, and growth of our 21st-century skills and computer literacy program across government schools in Satara, with the potential to scale across Maharashtra.
The immediate focus of this role is to drive teacher training at scale on Computational Thinking, AI Literacy, and Critical Media Literacy. The role will work closely with government education leaders and key institutions such as the Zilla Parishad Education Department and DIET Satara to strengthen the adoption and spread of Computer Science education across government schools. The Senior Associate will also lead and coordinate Hour of AI campaigns across Satara, enabling large numbers of students to engage with AI concepts and build foundational future-ready skills.
Job Description and Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation & Lab Operations (50%)
- Academic Delivery: Drive the rollout of computational thinking, block-based coding, and AI literacy training modules for government teachers and students.
- Project-Based Learning & Showcases: Cultivate an environment where students shift from tech consumers to creators, culminating in public project exhibitions and community problem-solving presentations.
- Data-Driven Course Correction: Conduct regular on-site observations of labs and classrooms; leverage usage metrics and learning data to pivot and refine implementation strategies.
2. Team Management & Culture (20%)
- Line Management: Directly manage a field team of 2–4 Associates/Project Coordinators, ensuring clear daily deliverables and operational alignment.
- Professional Development: Coach team members on technical tool proficiency, pedagogy, and field-level troubleshooting.
- Accountability & Well-being: Establish transparent reporting structures (KRAs, performance reviews) while fostering a collaborative team culture rooted in empathy and public system transformation.
3. Stakeholder Management & Co-Creation (20%)
- Government Relations: Build trust-based relationships with local administration, Block Education Officers (BEOs), DIET officials, and School Headmasters to ensure high regular attendance in labs.
- Infrastructure Advocacy: Collaborate with school administrations and local tech vendors to resolve basic structural challenges (electricity backups, internet connectivity, hardware faults).
- Impact Reporting: Convert complex field data regarding lab utilization, teacher mindset shifts, and student project completion rates into highly consumable presentations and reports for government and internal stakeholders.
4. Organizational Support (10%)
- Brand Representation: Act as the face of LFE’s tech initiatives at regional forums, donor visits, and education conferences.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Share ground insights with LFE’s core design and research teams to influence macro-level state tech policies.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc in Computer Science, IT, or EdTech; OR a Master’s in Education/Development with a strong demonstrable tech portfolio.
- 2+ years of experience executing field-level projects, ideally within the EdTech, Education, STEM Education, or ICT sectors.
- Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating coding and computer science lessons directly to school students (K-12) is highly preferred.
- Experience running training workshops for teachers or designing interactive tech/coding curricula.
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities
- Hands-on familiarity with coding languages and logic - specifically block-based coding.
- A strong personal interest in emerging technologies, AI literacy, and making tech education accessible to rural or under-resourced communities.
- Fluency in Marathi and Hindi is required to communicate effectively with local school cohorts and park officials. Good professional English for reporting is expected.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are required to confidently share data, project reports, and student updates with high-level authorities like the CEO and DEO.
- Ability to make complex logic fun, interactive, and project-based for young learners inside a computer lab environment.
Location and Compensation
Location : Satara, Maharashtra.
Compensation: Apart from being a part of a young and dynamic learning team, the individual will receive a healthy compensation at par with the non-profit sector benchmark for this position, commensurate with the individual’s prior experience and qualifications. The current compensation band offered, based on fit and experience, is 6 to 8 lakh INR per annum CTC.
