Senior Software Engineer, Customer Portal

The Engineering team builds the software powering Veriff. We're cracking the online identity crisis in a scalable way, deploying excellence to keep Veriff on the cusp of innovation. It's a fast-paced market with many challenges.

We're on the lookout for talent to join our Customer Portal team as a Senior Software Engineer. The Customer Portal team builds and maintains our comprehensive self-serve platform, used by thousands of SaaS and Enterprise customers. This crucial product allows customers to procure, manage, and control their identity verification services in their daily operations.

You'll own features end-to-end across our stack: a React/TypeScript front-end and the Node.js/TypeScript services behind it, where the full customer lifecycle comes together. You'll spend most of your time crafting high-quality customer-facing features, dropping into the API layer, shipping a database change or debugging Production issues. You'll work closely with Product Managers and Designers to enable the best experience for our customers, and you'll help mentor and raise the bar across the team. Join us on this exciting adventure!

You’ll help us protect honest people online by:

• Architecting a Multi-Product Platform: shift from a bespoke single-product portal to a self-serve platform for 10+ teams across Veriff to build upon and bring their services to our customers.
• Modernizing while shipping: You will strategically rebuild 6-year-old legacy systems —specifically our high-traffic session list and decision profiles— ensuring our core infrastructure stays as modern as the new features we ship.
• Champion our operational excellence: from building accurate monitoring and alerting, blazing-fast CI/CD pipelines, to instrumenting key metrics and advocating our SLA/SLOs, you will move the needle in how we operate to ensure the high-availability and high-performance our customers deserve.
• Engineering cross-team alignment: As the entry point for Identity Verification, Fraud, and Trust teams, you’ll coordinate how their products live in the portal, ensuring architectural consistency and code quality across the entire portfolio.
• Amplifying delivery with AI: You’ll help the team scale beyond its headcount by championing AI-enhanced workflows, turning "big ambitions" into reality through smarter automation and iterative, independent delivery.

You are the right future Veriffian for the job if you have:

• 5+ years building feature-rich web applications, with real depth in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, the Node.js ecosystem and its best practices. Working experience with React is a plus.
• You have working proficiency in Cloud and Kubernetes-based distributed applications, and feel comfortable designing and maintaining REST APIs that integrate and orchestrate data from multiple internal and external services.
• You have experience running services in production: on-call, monitoring/observability (e.g. Sentry, Prometheus-based SLOs), and incident handling.
• You are comfortable working in legacy code without burning it all down. You know how to modernize incrementally while keeping things running.
• You have owned something end-to-end: a product area, a service, a migration. Not just contributed to it.
• You can hold your own in product conversations. This team sits at the intersection of billing, configuration, and customer lifecycle. You will need to understand the business problem, not just the ticket.
• You are curious about AI-assisted development workflows. We are pushing hard on using AI to multiply what a small team can deliver. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be genuinely interested.
