About this role

Server Capacity & Fulfillment Planner

Teraswitch is seeking a Server Capacity & Fulfillment Planner to own the planning and coordination required to turn customer demand into delivered bare metal infrastructure.

This role maintains a complete view of available, reserved, incoming, and deployed server capacity across Teraswitch locations. You will match customer orders to existing inventory, forecast future requirements, identify capacity shortfalls, and coordinate the work necessary to fulfill each order.

You will serve as the central owner of the fulfillment plan. Other teams will perform purchasing, shipping, facility preparation, and hands-on technical work, but you will ensure their activities are properly sequenced and that every order continues moving toward delivery.

This is a planning and coordination role—not a warehouse, purchasing, or hands-on server-technician position. You will define what needs to happen, create and track the required work, manage dependencies, and maintain visibility from the initial request through final delivery.

What you’ll own

  • Maintain an accurate view of available, reserved, incoming, transferred, and deployed server capacity across Teraswitch locations.

  • Understand customer requirements, priorities, target locations, hardware configurations, and required delivery dates.

  • Match customer orders to available servers, components, and capacity.

  • Determine whether demand should be fulfilled using existing inventory, server reconfiguration, inter-site transfers, or new purchasing.

  • Forecast server and component demand by configuration, location, and expected delivery period.

  • Identify inventory and capacity shortages before they affect customer delivery timelines.

  • Develop an end-to-end fulfillment plan for each order.

  • Select the appropriate source and destination locations for server capacity.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to confirm rack space, power, cooling, connectivity, and supporting infrastructure at the destination.

  • Confirm that the required servers, memory, storage, network equipment, rails, cables, optics, and other components are available.

  • Create and coordinate the work orders required to pull, audit, configure, pack, ship, receive, install, onboard, test, and deliver equipment.

  • Ensure each work order has a clear owner, dependency, priority, and required completion date.

  • Coordinate required-by dates and purchasing needs with Purchasing.

  • Coordinate transfers, shipping requirements, and delivery timelines with Logistics.

  • Coordinate labor requirements and execution timelines with Operations.

  • Track shipment ETAs and ensure receiving, contractor, and Operations schedules are aligned.

  • Maintain visibility into the current status, next action, blocker, and responsible party for every active order.

  • Escalate risks, shortages, missed dependencies, and delivery concerns early.

  • Maintain clear fulfillment and capacity reporting for Operations leadership.

  • Develop repeatable processes, workflows, and reporting for capacity planning and server fulfillment.

  • Measure fulfillment timelines and identify recurring sources of delay.

How you’ll work with other teams

You will work especially closely with the Facilities and Operations teams. You determine which server capacity should be used to fulfill demand and where that capacity is needed; Facilities determines whether the destination has the physical space, power, cooling, connectivity, and supporting infrastructure required to receive it.

You will also partner with:

  • Operations.

  • Purchasing.

  • Logistics.

  • Sales and customer-facing teams.

  • Network and Infrastructure teams.

  • Data center providers and contractors.

You remain responsible for driving the overall fulfillment plan forward, while each partner team remains responsible for completing and validating its assigned work.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in server capacity planning, infrastructure fulfillment, technical operations, inventory planning, supply planning, or a similarly coordinated operational role.

  • Strong understanding of server hardware, including processors, memory, storage, network interfaces, and supporting components.

  • Ability to translate customer requirements into specific server configurations and fulfillment plans.

  • Strong forecasting, prioritization, and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple orders, projects, locations, and dependencies simultaneously.

  • Strong project-management skills with consistent attention to deadlines, blockers, documentation, and follow-through.

  • Experience working across Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, and technical teams.

  • Ability to distinguish between physically available, technically suitable, reserved, incoming, and deployable inventory.

  • Comfort working with ticketing, inventory, documentation, and infrastructure-management systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • The judgment to identify risks early, escalate clearly, and drive work through completion.

Helpful experience

  • Experience supporting bare metal, hosting, cloud, data center, hardware, or large-scale infrastructure operations.

  • Familiarity with server-component compatibility and hardware configuration planning.

  • Experience forecasting hardware demand or matching inventory against customer orders.

  • Experience coordinating inter-site equipment transfers and deployment projects.

  • Familiarity with Atlassian products.

  • Experience using APIs to retrieve and reconcile operational, inventory, and capacity data or automate recurring planning workflows.

  • Experience creating linked work orders and managing cross-functional dependencies.

  • Experience working with distributed data center inventories and remote technical teams.

Schedule

This role generally works Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Some scheduled coordination may occur outside standard business hours to support time-sensitive shipments, deployments, or customer delivery requirements.

Success in this role

Success means every server order has a viable fulfillment plan, a clear current status, and an identified next action. Available inventory is used effectively, shortages are identified early, purchasing and transfers are initiated on time, destination capacity is confirmed before equipment moves, and cross-functional work remains coordinated through final delivery.

Compensation and Benefits

Along with a competitive pay scale, full-time Teraswitch employees are eligible for the following benefits:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with company profit sharing

  • PTO and 11 Company Paid Holidays
