About this role

Leidos, a leading defense, intelligence, and technology company, is seeking motivated and aspiring technology students for our Summer 2027 Internship Program (Starts May 2027). As a SharePoint & Systems Engineering Intern, you will join our Digital Sector supporting the Program Operations team on the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract. This position is 100% remote (with a primary focus on U.S. Eastern and Central time zones), offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience modernizing enterprise-level systems, improving workflows, and contributing to real-world engineering challenges within a massive, $600M+ global defense organization.

Your Opportunity:

Are you passionate about systems engineering and building the digital tools that make large organizations run efficiently? As an intern on the Program Operations team, you will support our ongoing efforts to modernize and integrate business operations tools. You will play an active role in our solution development and improvement to include work on SharePoint Online, Power Platform and AI augmented tools & developing related standardized processes, technical documentation, and automated workflows that directly impact our team's operational efficiency.

What You’ll Do (Potential Projects & Learning Opportunities):

  • Assist with the migration of legacy solutions to newer modern solutions & environments.
  • Support the design and development of SharePoint site structures, permissions matrices, and layouts to meet the specific requirements of our engineering and operations teams.
  • Gain hands-on experience creating and testing automated business workflows using tools like Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, process maps, and user guides for new and existing systems.
  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions with stakeholders and senior engineers to understand operational needs and constraints.
  • Assist in testing and validating new system features and process improvements before deployment.
  • Provide basic user support for SharePoint and other integrated business tools.

What You’ll Bring (Required):

  • Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a U.S. citizen. A security clearance is not required to start. However, selected candidates must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance post-onboarding, which Leidos will sponsor if necessary.
  • Education: Currently pursuing a degree (Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred).
  • Technical Foundation: A strong interest in systems engineering, enterprise tools, or process improvement, with familiarity using Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, Excel, Teams, or the Power Platform (academic or personal experience is acceptable).
  • Professional Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team environment and manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
  • Location: This internship is 100% remote. Candidates must be based in the United States and have a reliable internet connection to support remote work and video conferencing capabilities.

What We Want (Desired):

  • Prior exposure to SharePoint Online, Power Automate, or Power Apps (via home labs, projects, or prior internships).
  • Experience with technical writing, system documentation, or workflow mapping.
  • A basic academic understanding of systems engineering concepts (e.g., requirements gathering, workflows, and the system lifecycle).
  • A strong interest in data organization, process optimization, and building efficient business operations tools.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
