About this role

Location: Cleveland, OH

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC has immediate opportunities for Shift Manager Electrical Maintenance positions at our Cleveland, Ohio facility. This front-line leadership role is responsible for leading skilled maintenance employees and directing day-to-day electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The successful candidate will drive equipment reliability, support continuous improvement initiatives, develop employee capabilities, and promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards; conduct safety, quality, and environmental audits in a timely manner.
  • Lead and supervise Maintenance Technician Electrical (MTEs), providing day-to-day direction to support safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance operations.
  • Maintain and develop expertise in the electrical, automation, and maintenance systems within the assigned area to support troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of electrical and automation equipment within the assigned area to maximize equipment availability and performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees while ensuring they have the tools, training, and resources needed to perform their work safely and effectively.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and resources using sound project management principles and a thorough understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Continuous Improvement, Accounting, vendors, suppliers, and peers across the organization to develop and execute maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Weekends and shift work may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or other relevant operations environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work in a demanding industrial environment, including exposure to heat, dust, uneven surfaces, stairs, ladders, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Three (3) years of electrical maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce.
  • Experience working in a steel mill.
  • Experience with PLCs, process automation systems, drives, instrumentation, AC/DC industrial controls, power distribution systems, and AC/DC motors.
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical equipment such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps and process water systems, mechanical power transmission, lubrication, and overhead cranes.

Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000.  An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
