About this role

Build the bridge between devices, cloud services, and customers.

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to join the Cloud Gateway team and help shape the future of Casambi's gateway platform.

Your primary focus will be our Cloud Gateway product, which connects physical devices to cloud services, enables secure remote management, and supports large scale deployments in customer environments. The role spans multiple technology layers, from Linux-based edge devices to cloud services, backend systems, and operational tooling.

While the gateway platform will be your main area of responsibility, you'll also have opportunities to contribute to other backend services and products as our technology landscape evolves, including several .NET-based systems and services.

We're looking for a developer who thrives in technically challenging environments, enjoys learning continuously, and actively leverages AI tools to become more productive and effective.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain software for cloud-connected gateway products

• Work across edge devices, operating systems, cloud services, backend systems, and operational tooling

• Contribute to the architecture, security, reliability, and maintainability of gateway solutions

• Develop and improve remote device management, connectivity, and software update capabilities

• Investigate and solve complex issues across device, network, cloud, and application layers

• Collaborate with hardware, cloud, backend, and product teams

• Use AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, quality, troubleshooting, and learning

• Participate throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept and development to deployment, operation, and continuous improvement

• Maintain solutions after launch and develop new capabilities based on business needs and customer feedback

• Contribute to multiple products and services as priorities and opportunities evolve

What we're looking for

Essential

• 5+ years of professional software development experience

• Strong software engineering, debugging, and problem-solving skills

• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and business domains

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality

• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently

• Interest in developing reliable, scalable, and secure systems

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Highly appreciated

• Experience developing software for Linux-based systems, servers, or edge devices

• Experience building secure, reliable, and maintainable distributed systems

• Experience with device connectivity, remote management, or over-the-air (OTA) software update solutions

• Experience with cloud platforms, backend services, or modern communication protocols such as MQTT and WebSockets

• Experience with technologies such as .NET/C#, Ubuntu Core, containers, or Bluetooth

• Understanding of cybersecurity and secure software development practices

• Experience shipping new products or major product capabilities to customers

We support flexible and remote working. At the same time, we believe that some of the best collaboration happens face-to-face.

We expect team members to be able to visit our office approximately once per month and occasionally spend several consecutive days on-site for team events, workshops, planning sessions, or other collaborative activities.

Why join us?

You'll work on a product that spans edge devices, operating systems, cloud infrastructure, security, connectivity, remote management, and software updates throughout the entire device lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to solve challenging real-world problems while owning solutions that operate in production environments and support large-scale customer deployments. You'll be part of a team that values technical excellence, continuous learning, practical innovation, and the effective use of AI to build better products faster.

We value engineers who care not only about writing code, but also about delivering successful products that solve real customer problems and continue to provide value long after their initial release.

We are looking for product builders, not just feature developers. Candidates with experience bringing new products or major product capabilities from idea to customer deployment are particularly encouraged to apply.

This role is based at our head office in Espoo, Finland, where most of our team works together in a hybrid setting. To be considered for the position, applicants should already hold a valid right to work in Finland, as we are unfortunately not in a position to support relocation or sponsor work permits for this opening. We warmly welcome applications from all qualified candidates who meet this requirement.

* Applications are processed with the help of AI (for example, to detect and summarize whether criteria are met), but the final assessment is always made by a human.
