Are you passionate about shaping the future of Advertising Sales through AI? The Sales AI team within Amazon Advertising is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead the engineering team behind Sales Recommendations — the platform that surfaces actionable, data-driven recommendations to account teams worldwide. In this role, you'll own the technical vision and roadmap for systems that help account teams deliver guidance to advertisers at scale, from large corporations with multi-million-dollar budgets to small/medium size businesses. You'll build and grow a high-performing engineering team while driving the next generation of agentic AI solutions that deliver customized recommendations tailored to advertiser goals.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software development team, establishing structures that enable engineers to solve complex problems and deliver impactful systems while maintaining a sustainable workload.
- Own the 1–2 year technical roadmap for Sales Recommendations, defining priorities by working backwards from customer needs and contributing to organizational planning.
- Partner with Applied Scientists, Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Go-to-Market teams to align on cross-team goals, resolve conflicting priorities, and deliver cohesive solutions.
- Design and implement operational mechanisms and metrics that provide visibility into system health, team performance, and customer experience.
- Coach and develop engineers through collaborative development planning, strategic project assignment, and actionable feedback that raises the performance bar with every hire and promotion.
A day in the life
You'll start your morning reviewing operational metrics and system health dashboards before connecting with your engineers on technical design discussions. Midday might bring a roadmap review with partner teams, a working session with Product Managers and Account teams to align delivery priorities with advertiser needs, or a one-on-one where you help a direct report navigate a career growth opportunity. You'll write and review technical documents, challenge architectural proposals, and clear roadblocks so your team can ship with confidence.
