Role Summary/Purpose:
As a Software Engineer, your role will primarily revolve around building software by writing code, as well as modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces. You will also be directly involved in working with Versatile’s real time error monitoring to help identify and address systems integration issues or platform defects as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new requirements, improve its performance, or upgrade its interfaces.
Monitoring real-time system error notifications, researching identified systems logs to assess impact, and remediation and deployment of fixes.
Directing system testing and validation procedures.
Directing software programming and documentation development.
Consulting with internal groups, partners, and customers on project status and proposals.
Working with internal groups on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.
Analyzing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing system.
Conferring with project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent field experience.
2-4 years of industry experience.
Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills - Ability to digest complex projects or Customer issues and devise a plan to best complete/solve them.
Knowledge of the software development life cycle.
Experience with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and modern frameworks such as Spring framework, VueJs, or React.
Experience with server-side platforms such as Java, Kotlin, or Javascript/NodeJS.
Experience with relational databases is a plus.
Experience with modern version control and CI/CD systems such as GitLab, GitHub, and BitBucket.
Ability to collaborate, communicate, and work in a fast-paced team-based environment.
Grade/Level: 09
The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 140,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.
*Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
