This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and lead the next generation of automation solutions supporting enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. This role combines deep software engineering expertise with technical leadership responsibilities and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving large-scale infrastructure challenges while mentoring others and driving engineering excellence.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and delivering automation platforms that simplify infrastructure provisioning, configuration, operational management, and self-service capabilities for internal customers. The role requires a strong Python development background, experience with modern software engineering practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure engineers, operations teams, architects, and business stakeholders.

As a senior member of the team, this individual is expected to provide technical leadership, influence architectural decisions, promote engineering best practices, and help guide the team's technical direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)

  • Software Development Architecture
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain automation platforms and services used to manage enterprise storage and backup environments
  • Build scalable APIs, backend services, and automation workflows using Python
  • Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise infrastructure, operational tooling, and management platforms
  • Design solutions that are secure, reliable, maintainable, and operationally efficient
  • Create reusable frameworks and components that accelerate automation delivery across the organization

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, and distributed systems
  • Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies
  • Experience working with Linux-based environments
  • Strong experience with source control systems such as Git and modern development workflows
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence outcomes across teams
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms in professional software development workflows

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing software in Go (Golang)
  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies (NetApp, Dell, Pure Storage, IBM, or similar platforms)
  • Experience with enterprise backup technologies such as Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik, Veritas NetBackup, or similar solutions
  • Experience building automation for infrastructure management and operations
  • Experience developing internal self-service platforms and service catalogs
  • Familiarity with event-driven and microservice-based architectures
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools
  • Knowledge of enterprise security, authentication, authorization, and compliance requirements
  • Experience working in highly regulated or large-scale enterprise environments
