x15ventures operates in the space between corporate and startup. We help build and scale digital ventures, giving teams the freedom to move quickly while maintaining the safety, security and resilience expected of businesses connected to CommBank. 

Our Security team is small, agile and cross-functional. We work across x15 and its portfolio of ventures, helping teams understand their risks, make informed decisions and build practical controls into their products and operations.

We're building a dedicated AI Venturing team focused on turning ideas into real world products that solve meaningful problems for our customers. 

We're looking for Principal, Staff and Senior Software Engineers who thrive in ambiguity, love shipping quickly, and enjoy taking AI concepts from whiteboard to working pilot. You'll partner directly with our Core Team, Ventures and the wider CBA Group to design, build and validate AI-powered tools that can scale across our portfolio. 

This isn't about maintaining legacy systems. It's about building what's next. 

What you'll do 

• Design, build and deploy AI-powered products and internal tooling from concept through to production.  

• Work across the full stack to rapidly prototype, iterate and validate ideas with venture teams.  

• Partner closely with Product, Design, AI specialists and venture leaders to solve real customer and business problems.  

• Build scalable, production-ready software using modern engineering practices.  

• Evaluate emerging AI models, frameworks and technologies to identify practical applications.  

• Shape engineering standards and influence technical direction within a fast-moving venture environment.  

• Help establish repeatable patterns for AI product development across x15ventures.  

We're looking for people who 

• Are experienced full-stack software engineers (Senior, Staff or Principal level).  

• Have a passion for building AI-enabled products, developer tools or intelligent workflows.  

• Enjoy moving from idea to working prototype quickly while maintaining high engineering quality.  

• Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and experimenting with new technologies.  

• Understand the process of delivering products within regulated environments  

• Think commercially and enjoy working directly with customers and venture teams.  

• Love collaborating across disciplines to bring products to life.  

Bonus points if you have experience with 

• Generative AI and LLM application development.  

• AI orchestration frameworks and agentic systems.  

• Cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps practices.  

• Building APIs, integrations and scalable platforms.  

• Rapid prototyping, experimentation and product discovery.
