Job Description

We are looking for a Southern Indiana Fetal-Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) Coordinator to lead and support efforts in reducing fetal and infant mortality in Southern Indiana. This position will be Full-Time and Remote.

Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) staff, other state agencies, and community organizations serving women, infants, and families
  • Develop, maintain, and support FIMR network infrastructure for Southern Indiana
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating FIMR meetings and Community Action Teams
  • Support the administration of the FIMR data collection system
  • Evaluate best practices from FIMR programs in other states and recommend improvements
  • Prepare grant applications and reports to expand resources for the Division of Fatality Prevention (DFP) and local FIMR teams
  • Coordinate program activities, assess project needs, and analyze fetal/infant mortality trends
  • Collect and abstract data from death certificates, coroner and law enforcement reports, medical records, and toxicology reports
  • Collaborate with related programs (e.g., Maternal Mortality Review, Safe Sleep, Child Fatality Review) to develop outreach and prevention materials
  • Promote FIMR activities and findings to IDOH divisions and partner agencies, such as Genomics and Newborn Screening, Division of Mental Health and Addiction, Medicaid, and Department of Child Services
  • Strengthen interagency relationships to expand health promotion resources
  • Prepare abstracts and proposals for presentation at local, state, and national events
  • Present program findings and initiatives at conferences and professional meetings
  • Work with IDOH leadership, local teams, and hospital systems to advance bereavement support, follow-up care, and maternal mental health services after a loss

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a public health-related field (e.g., health promotion, communication, health education, social work, public health) preferred; or two years of related experience. Lived experience may substitute for professional experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and presentations

Physical Demands 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$28 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
