About this role

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.

Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role:

Samsara's Connected Operations platform helps organizations that depend on physical operations — fleets, construction, utilities, public works, and first responders — run safer, more efficiently, and more sustainably.

We're looking for a Sr. Manager, Product Marketing Manager, Public Sector to own the narrative, positioning, and enablement that will define how Samsara wins in government. You'll be the team's expert on how public sector buyers evaluate technology — from the contract vehicles they procure through, to the compliance bar they hold vendors to, to the mission outcomes they're ultimately accountable for.

This is a strategic, cross-functional role for someone who already understands government and frameworks like FedRAMP and StateRAMP/GovRAMP. The ideal candidate is someone who wants to build a public sector product marketing motion, not just execute inside one that already exists.

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the U.S. We prefer candidates based in or near Washington, D.C., or those able to work Eastern time zone hours.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your work will have real-world stakes — helping public agencies keep roads plowed, fleets safe, and essential services running for the communities they serve.
  • You're fluent in how the government buys technology: You understand procurement cycles, contract vehicles, and compliance frameworks well enough to turn them into a go-to-market advantage rather than a blocker.
  • You're energized by building, not just executing: Samsara's federal go-to-market motion is still being defined — you'll have real ownership over the frameworks, positioning, and playbooks that shape it.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won't be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together, and support each other. You'll be surrounded by a high-caliber team that pushes you to do your best work.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead as a player-coach: Manage a direct report while helping build the public sector PMM team's foundation — sharing in the strategic work, coaching for growth, and creating the frameworks that enable the function to scale.
  • Own public sector positioning and messaging: Develop and evolve Samsara's core narrative for government buyers across federal, state, local, and education segments — grounded in mission outcomes rather than generic product benefits
  • Build Samsara's federal go-to-market foundation: Partner cross-functionally to define how Samsara approaches the federal market, including messaging and enablement that reflect our compliance roadmap as it evolves
  • Translate compliance into a sales advantage: Understand the FedRAMP authorization process and impact levels — deeply enough to explain it clearly to sales teams and prospects, and to inform internal conversations about authorization strategy and timing
  • Drive product and platform launches for public sector: Localize Samsara's launches for a government audience, ensuring messaging reflects agency use cases, procurement realities, and compliance considerations
  • Enable sales and channel teams: Build battlecards, objection-handling guides, RFP/RFI response content, and compliance-focused sales collateral that helps account teams and channel partners win competitive government deals
  • Support competitive intelligence for public sector: Track how competitors position themselves to government buyers, and translate that intelligence into differentiated Samsara messaging and sales guidance
  • Represent Samsara at public sector events and forums: Support flagship industry events and partner conferences with content, speaking support, and thought leadership

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 7+ years of product marketing (or closely related go-to-market) experience, with a meaningful portion of that focused on public sector / government technology marketing (B2G)
  • Working knowledge of the FedRAMP authorization process, and general familiarity with adjacent compliance frameworks (e.g., StateRAMP/GovRAMP, NIST 800-53), with the ability to translate them into clear guidance for internal teams
  • Proven ability to independently own strategic programs from conception to completion, and to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — able to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives for technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience

An ideal candidate also has:

  • Experience managing a direct report or small team is strongly preferred
  • Direct experience supporting a company through a FedRAMP or StateRAMP/GovRAMP authorization process
  • Experience marketing connected devices, hardware-enabled, or physical-operations software platforms
  • Prior experience in government or a public sector-focused vendor or agency role
  • Established relationships within the Carahsoft ecosystem or with other public sector aggregators/resellers
  • Experience building a public sector or new-market go-to-market motion from scratch — including positioning frameworks and playbooks designed to scale beyond your own work
