As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the AWS Healthcare AI team, you'll spearhead the complete technical lifecycle, from system design, to implementing robust distributed systems, and developing AI-powered healthcare solutions. You'll be working on transformative products that leverage generative and agentic AI to enhance clinical and administrative workflows for healthcare providers. Your work will directly contribute to improving patient care, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional value to our customers.


Key job responsibilities
• Drive the full software development lifecycle, establishing technical strategy and best practices from conception through delivery and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, applied scientists, other engineers, and cross-functional teams to shape product vision, define technical roadmaps, make critical architectural decisions that align with business objectives, and execute on our product roadmap.
• Translate user stories into software designs demonstrating sensible trade-offs between complexity and delivery.
• Drive innovation in solving complex healthcare challenges using advanced technologies.
• Maintain operational excellence and compliance with healthcare industry standards.
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the rapidly evolving field of healthcare AI
• Provide technical mentorship, grow team capabilities, and foster a culture of engineering excellence through code reviews, architecture reviews, and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing platforms. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their practical applications.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience with AWS services and cloud architecture. Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) or speech recognition technologies.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
