About the Role
We are looking for a high-impact Staff Data Engineer to serve as a technical leader, system thinker, and collaborative innovator on our engineering team. In this role, you will architect and evolve our scalable data integration platform, directly shaping the technical strategy that powers critical insights and drives business success for our customers.

Core Platform & Data Warehouse: Snowflake, SQL, Coalesce
Languages & Integration: Python, RESTful / Public APIs
Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, Serverless Architecture)
Engineering Practices: TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, Automated Testing, Metadata Management
Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Scale Solutions: Design and deliver highly dynamic, configuration-driven
data integration features and software solutions that scale seamlessly with business
demand.
- Technical Leadership & Governance: Lead technical decision-making by crafting
Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and Requests for Comments (RFCs) to foster
transparency, architectural alignment, and long-term trust.
- Performance & Cost Optimization: Drive system performance diagnostics, optimize
database and API architectures, and lead cost-effective cloud resource management.
- Engineering Excellence & Automation: Champion TDD, CI/CD, and DevOps best
practices. Build automated health monitoring and self-healing systems to minimize
operational friction and eliminate preventable human errors.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and
Engineering Managers in an agile environment to iteratively plan, scope, and ship
high-value features.
- Mentorship & Escalated Support: Provide high-level technical escalation support while
actively mentoring and empowering fellow engineers to grow their technical skillsets.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building complex, enterprise-grade data integration platforms at scale.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and optimizing data solutions within Snowflake.
- Proven track record in system performance diagnostics, database optimization, public-facing API design, auto-scaling, and robust security management.
- Deep experience with configuration-driven software design, metadata management, and automated deployment pipelines.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithmic design.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on expertise with AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, and serverless data architecture.
- Experience partnering directly with external customers or vendors to build strategic technical solutions.
- Proven background in technical mentorship and growing junior and mid-level engineering Talent.

Compensation:
The annual base compensation range for this position is $150,000-$175,000. The reasonably estimated total cash compensation (base + variable) range for this full-time position will be $165,000-$192,500.
Actual compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Crunchtime has a location-based compensation system, so someone doing the same job in a different city might have a different pay range.
