Strategy and Operations Lead
About this role
About Big Leap Health
Big Leap Health is transforming how interventional psychiatry practices deliver care. We partner with clinics across the country to power TMS and Spravato services — combining clinical expertise, technology, and payer integration to make high-quality mental healthcare more accessible. These aren't just treatments; they're gateways to resilience, empathy, hope, and strength.
We're building the infrastructure layer for the next generation of in-person behavioral health, replacing administrative chaos with a connected, data-driven operating system that helps practices focus on what matters: patients.
We've raised $10M+ from top VCs and angels, have dozens of customers across the country and are rapidly growing.
The Role
We're starting a Strategy & Ops function, and this is the person who gets to define it.
You'll report to the CEO and work on whatever matters most that month. Some weeks that means running our planning cadence and getting the leadership team aligned on the quarter; other weeks you're on the phone with a payer's network team, recruiting clinicians onto our medical advisory board, rebuilding how we run outbound, or picking up a project nobody else has time to own. The through-line is judgment, not a functional specialty.
You'll get problems with no playbook and be expected to come back with a recommendation, the reasoning behind it, and a plan you can run yourself. As the function grows, this seat may pick up direct reports; we'd want whoever's in it to build that team.
Good fit if you'd rather own an outcome than a workstream, and if you want to see up close how a healthcare technology company actually scales.
Example Projects
Run the offsite that sets next quarter's OKRs, then own the weekly and monthly rhythm that keeps them from quietly dying six weeks later, including a company-wide update people actually read
Take the medical advisory board from idea to first meeting. Identify the interventional psychiatry KOLs worth having, get them to say yes
Rebuild the financial model against what our operations actually taught us, then tell us where our unit economics and pricing are wrong
Evaluate our GTM motion and improve our sales process to drive better velocity and outcomes
About You
6–10 years of full-time experience, including real time at a fast-growing, VC-backed early-stage startup
Analytical by instinct. You can build a model in Sheets from ugly source data and defend every assumption in it. You don't need to be a data scientist; you do need to be the person who checks a number before repeating it
You turn ambiguity into a plan quickly, and then execute the plan
Comfortable in outside conversations, whether that's a payer's network director, a skeptical psychiatrist, or a clinic owner who is frustrated with the system
Writes and presents well: a board memo in the morning, a payer pitch that afternoon
Ownership mentality, entrepreneurial instincts, and a real sense of urgency
Fluent in the modern AI stack (you know the difference between an MCP and a Claude Skill, or you can show us what you've built with something else)
Digital health experience, or a track record of learning an unfamiliar sector in weeks
Genuinely interested in where breakthrough mental healthcare treatment is heading
Thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance culture
Excited to work in a hybrid work environment in the NYC area (3+ days in-person required)
Preferred:
Digital healthcare startup experience
Consulting, banking, or investing background paired with at least one operating role
Exposure to payer contracting, reimbursement, or revenue cycle management
Has managed or mentored junior teammates
