We have a fixed-term Legal and fixed-term Resource Management internship position available to offer as part of our 2026/2027 Summer Intern Programme. The internship will be from Monday 23rd November 2026 to Friday 12th February 2027. These internships will be paid in line with New Zealand Living Wage.
The opportunity
Our summer internship programme is an opportunity for students who are looking to do real work that will support our community. We will provide a great learning environment where you will get to work on tasks that will help you in your personal and professional development.
During your internship no two days will be the same, and you will be exposed to a variety of legal, emergency or resource management tasks that ensure the Wellington community receives safe, reliable and compliant water services.
This will give you the opportunity to gain practical skills in a variety of tasks. The legal intern will support the in-house legal team providing legal advice to the organisation.
The Resource Management intern will support the compliance team with tasks such as:
Conducting audit and investigation relating to drinking water and environmental compliance
Water safety planning
Data management and reporting

About us
Tiaki Wai is a council-owned organisation responsible for managing the delivery of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services across Hutt Valley, Porirua, and Wellington.
We manage public-owned extensive water infrastructure and oversee the delivery of safe and reliable services for our communities.
