The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow Is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. 

We have an opportunity for a Surgical Care Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatres department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

  • Assist in surgical interventions under the instruction and supervision of the operating surgeon, within your agreed scope of competence.
  • Carry out tasks such as tissue retraction, suctioning, irrigation, haemostasis (including electrosurgery and haemostatic agent application), and wound closure where competent.
  • Make clinical decisions and exercise professional judgment in line with national guidance, training, and delegation agreements.
  • Complete operative records accurately on behalf of the surgeon, ensuring clear, timely, and complete documentation.
  • Assist in collecting post-operative outcome data, such as NJR (National Joint Registry) forms and other audit or reporting tools.
  • Contribute to the quality assurance and governance process through accurate and accountable clinical records.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • NMC or HCPC registration with post-registration qualification as a Surgical Care Practitioner.
  • Proven experience in a theatre environment and competence in assisting with surgical procedures.
  • Experience in robotic surgery; Urology, Gynaecology, General, Colorectal and/or Thoracic
  • Excellent understanding of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and intraoperative patient care.
  • Ability to exercise clinical judgment, work under pressure, and maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
  • Experience across a variety of surgical specialities (e.g. orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology).
  • Familiarity with electronic patient records and surgical tracking systems.
  • Involvement in quality improvement initiatives or audit participation.
  • Evidence of CPD and active engagement in surgical education or research.
