Job Summary

Summary

Responsible for providing therapeutic aquatic instruction to individuals of varying ages with physical or developmental needs in a hospital or rehabilitation setting. Works collaboratively with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to deliver individualized aquatic exercise programs designed to improve mobility, strength, functional ability, and overall well-being.

Essential Functions
Design and implement individualized aquatic therapy sessions based on participant assessments, therapeutic goals, and established treatment plans.
Provide safe and effective aquatic instruction, ensuring proper exercise technique, positioning, and progression throughout each session.
Monitor participants during aquatic sessions to promote safety and identify changes in tolerance, mobility, or functional performance.
Collaborate with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to support therapeutic goals and modify aquatic activities based on participant progress.
Educate participants and caregivers on appropriate aquatic exercise techniques, safety practices, and recommended post-session care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of attendance, participation, progress, and session outcomes.
Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic pool environment, including monitoring appropriate water and environmental conditions.
Follow applicable health, safety, infection-control, and emergency-response procedures within the aquatic environment.
Assist with the development, coordination, and facilitation of group aquatic therapy, wellness, and rehabilitation programs as needed.
Maintain required certifications and demonstrate knowledge of aquatic safety and emergency procedures.
Communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Perform other duties as assigned to support aquatic therapy and rehabilitation services.


 

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Lifeguarding - American Red Cross required Certified Basic Swim Instructor [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only required Experience Experience providing therapeutic aquatic instruction or related health and fitness services 2-3 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong knowledge of therapeutic swimming techniques and principles. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals. - Ability to assess and adapt swim therapy programs based on individual patient needs. - Proficient in water safety and emergency response procedures. - Detail-oriented with the ability to track and document patient progress effectively.
