Tax Accountant
The Tax Accountant will focus on sales and use tax compliance for a banking client. This role ensures proper treatment of transactions, prepares returns, supports audits, and provides guidance to optimize tax processes using technology and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide sales tax treatment guidance in the Equipment Finance industry
Ensure documentation meets Tax Department standards
Support audits and internal compliance reviews
Review and validate sales tax exemption certificates
Recommend process improvements for sales and use tax compliance, including technology solutions
Prepare and file multi-state sales tax returns accurately
Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
4–6 years of experience in sales and use tax, preferably multi-state compliance
Experience with monthly sales tax compliance and return filing
Sales tax code interpretation and research expertise
Experience with Vertex Indirect Tax or similar software highly desirable
Proficient with Alteryx, Excel, and general ledger reconciliation
Equipment finance and relational database experience (Access, Hyperion, Tableau, MicroStrategy) a plus
