The Tax Principal provides strategic leadership and oversight of all tax planning, compliance, and advisory activities for the organization. This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, develops tax-efficient strategies, and partners with senior leadership to assess tax implications of business decisions. The position requires expert-level technical knowledge, influencing skills, and the ability to lead high-complexity tax projects across multiple jurisdictions.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Tax Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of federal, state and local tax strategy for the organization across multiple jurisdictions in the United States. This role involves overseeing the preparation and filing of tax returns, handling audits, conducting tax research, and providing strategic tax planning and advisory services. The Tax Senior Manager will report to the Head of Global Tax and work closely with various departments to provide tax guidance, support, and ensure accurate and timely tax filings.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare Partnership Allocation modeling
  • Manage the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state and local tax returns and informational reporting
  • Oversee and manage the outsourced preparation, review, and filing of partnership tax returns and informational reporting
  • Oversee and manage outsourced international tax filings
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision (ASC 740)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on tax matters to internal and external stakeholders, including, but not limited to, investors, business divisions, finance, treasury and legal teams
  • Support and manage external advisors assisting with M&A and tax planning activities
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations in various jurisdictions, assessing their impact on the company and ensuring timely implementation of necessary changes.
  • Conduct and manage tax audits and notices, including preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and tax authorities to address complex tax issues and ensure compliance with jurisdictional tax requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Must have strong partnership tax experience (351, 704(b), 704(c), 721, 754, 743(b))
  • Experience with tax research and tax planning.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE and Checkpoint

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification (preferred).

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
