Background

The Hans Foundation (THF), established in 2009, is a Public Charitable Trust that works towards creating an equitable society to enhance the quality of life for all by empowering marginalized and underprivileged communities in India. The Hans Foundation works for the health and well-being of remote and under-served groups, with an additional focus on children, persons with disabilities, and women. THF also works for holistic Education and Livelihood development of our communities. Our two-fold strategy involves identifying and working within aspirational districts and high poverty indexes in the North, North-East, and East regions within specific states, as well as catering to lower-income and migratory populations in cities through urban programs.
Over its 15 years of existence, THF has reached more than 57 million beneficiaries through its programs. THF works with communities through the direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organizations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.

About Project
The Hans Foundation supports Hans Nayi Disha in Gurugram. HANS NAYI DISHA is a Learning center for children from marginalized communities (NGO). We offer admission to children between the ages of 4.5 and 14, for Balwadi to class 5. We follow the NCERT curriculum and prepare children for NIOS exams, and/or admission to other mainstream schools. The interventions in Balwadi will include - strengthening the quality of services in the Balwadi and Introduction of digital learning system at the center.

Job Purpose
A Teacher is responsible for teaching, mentoring, and supervising young children in their foundational years of education. Their main role is to equip students with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for lifelong learning. Your main goal will be to create a supportive learning environment that will help your students meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, you’ll teach them the important rules of reading, writing, and speaking in English. You’ll oversee their progress by tracking their assignment and exam grades, to provide useful feedback.

Key Accountabilities
  • Identification and Mobilization of the children for 4.5- 5.5 years of age form nearby areas.
  • Develop a careful and creative program suitable for children.
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques such as storytelling, educational play, media etc. to teach children.
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
  • Use digital content and technology for playful learning.
  • Regular updating student’s attendance and performance in SRMS Software and other required software utilized for tracking student’s details.
  • Monitor children's behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed.
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
  • Keep track and reflect on student’s progress to manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts.
  • Guide Children to develop their motor skills, artistic and practical capabilities through a careful
  • constructed curriculum such as identify shapes, numbers or colors, do craft activity etc.
  • Supervise children during lunch hours (Midday meal served).
  • Track children’s progress and report to parents.
  • Communicates with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche.
  • Regular in touch with parents for student Feedback (via watsapp group, calls).
  • Ensure the students attend classes on daily basis.
  • Conduct periodic assessment and evaluation.
  • Prepare students for the transition to the next grade.
  • Collaborate with other educators.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
  • Daily reporting and documentation.
  • Participation in a monthly review meeting.
  • Enthusiastically participation in teacher's training program/faculty development program.
  • Entire code of conduct should be in congruent with child rights policy & laws and policy for the protection, safety and overall well-being of the child.
Educational Qualifications:
  • B.Ed. in Education And Diploma in Special Education (Multiple disability/ID/HI/VI/ASD/CP) or equivalent And Diploma in nursery teacher training

Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language Certifications, etc.)
  • Mandatory RCI license as personnel/professional in Special education
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant work of teaching children with special needs
  • Expertise in understanding and using TLM kits (specialized for CWSN/CWD)
  • Basic computer skills
Required Skills & Competences:
  • Strong written, instructional and verbal communication capabilities to relate and interact with multicultural background students and Special Children.
  • Giving close attention to details and demonstrating ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to lead and drive the project with a vision to achieve transformational change.
  • Have an empathetic & compassionate attitude.
  • Sensitive towards the needs of children.
  • Proven experience as a preschool teacher.
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
  • Familiarities with safety and sanitation guideline for classrooms.
  • Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen.
