About this role

Job Description Summary

The Team Lead for Incoming Materials Quality Inspection is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the inspection team to ensure all raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies meet established quality specifications before entering the production stream. The lead acts as the primary point of contact for quality issues with incoming parts and bridges the gap between the inspection team, purchasing, manufacturing, and department Supervisor.

Compliance & Documentation
• Coordinate with the purchasing and logistics departments to manage quarantined
materials and returns to vendors.

• Ensure all inspection records are accurately documented in the ERP/Quality
Management System (QMS).

• Maintain strict adherence to ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) and all regulatory requirements relevant to the product line.

• Perform internal audits of inspection documentation to ensure audit-readiness at all times.
Process Improvement
• Identify bottlenecks in the inspection process and implement lean improvements to
increase throughput and accuracy.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to refine incoming quality requirements based on recurring supplier issues.

Essential Responsibilities:


As the Team Lead for Incoming Material Quality Inspection, you will:

Team Leadership & Development


•  Mentor, and train quality inspectors on inspection techniques, safety

protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

 

• Resource allocation to ensure timely inspection throughout.

 

•  Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the

quality team.


•  Track and report out on production issues and stock investigations

 

  • Assist in tracking key team KPI’s 
  • Maintain communication between all three shifts and both locations 
  • Ensure Team is on pace with workflow undefined
  • Able to make needed decisions that impact team, production, supply chain, and suppliers
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:


•  Education: High School Diploma with continuing education in a Technical School preferred.


•  Experience: 3 years in manufacturing environment with at least 1 year in a

supervisory or team lead capacity.

 

•  Technical Skills: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).


  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and digital Quality

Management Systems. 

  • Solid understanding of industry-specific quality standards, Lean Manufacturing principles, and Six Sigma methodology. 
  • Analysis (RCA) or Corrective/Preventative Actions (CAPA) as required.
