TITLE:                  Tram Operator

LOCATION:         Snowbird Resort

STATUS:               Full-time, Hourly

SCHEDULE:         Variable

  • Anticipated start: Early November
  • Regularly scheduled work shifts require being on-call and working weekends, holidays, and some evenings.
  • Required to work one overnight shift per week at the Summit
  • Shifts generally begin at 6:00 am and may exceed 10 hours based on operational needs.

SUMMARY

Join Snowbird's Tram, Lift & Gate (TLG) Operations team and play a key role in delivering a safe, efficient, and exceptional mountain experience for our guests. As a Tram Operator, you will operate Snowbird's iconic Aerial Tram, assist guests during loading and unloading, maintain safe operating areas, and provide informative announcements throughout the guest experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Operate the Aerial Tram safely and efficiently in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist guests with loading and unloading while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Monitor and maintain hazard-free loading and unloading platforms, walkways, and station areas.
  • Complete required daily logs, inspections, and operational checks.
  • Deliver tram announcements and provide guests with mountain information.
  • Provide outstanding guest service and answer guest questions.
  • Work closely with Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, and other resort departments to support safe and efficient mountain operations.
  • Respond appropriately to changing weather, operational conditions, and guest needs.
  • Support lift, gate, and dig crew operations as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and perform basic math functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to accurately complete logs and operational documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain a high level of situational awareness.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Typical shift: 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Some afternoon and evening shifts may run from 3:00 pm to midnight.
  • Regular weekend, holiday, on-call, and weekly overnight Summit shifts required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work outdoors in variable winter weather conditions and at high elevations.
  • Stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, kneel, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work efficiently under pressure with frequent guest interaction.
  • May experience periods of increased stress related to weather conditions, guest volume, and transportation challenges.
  • May be required to stay overnight during road closures, severe weather events, or operational needs.
