Amherst Veterinary Hospital is a busy, progressive small animal clinic located in Kitsilano/Point Grey in Vancouver serving the community since 1987.

We are a full-service hospital with long term staff, striving to provide excellent quality of care and medicine for our patients, excellent client service and a positive environment for our employees, where their knowledge/skills can expand.

We are looking for a motivated, responsible, compassionate individual with a strong work ethic. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a compassionate approach to animal care, multitask and be reliable. If you enjoy providing exceptional client service and like cleaning and are experienced in animal husbandry then this is the job for you.

About the Role

Our ideal Vet Assistant will counsel and educate clients, under the direction of a Veterinarian or a RVT, on various aspects of animal care such as dosage/purpose of medications, home care, vaccination requirements, and preventative healthcare recommendations. In collaboration with the team, they will suggest and explain laboratory procedures and testing. They will also greet, handle, and treat animals in a way that contributes to an environment in which animals feel safe and secure. Weekend coverage is needed for this position. The successful candidate must be available to work on Saturdays. Previous related experience is required. This position is full-time.
