About this role
Utilize online databases for recording and uploading QA documentation.
Attend and coordinate walkdowns on piping systems to confirm compliance with design Isometric and LSP (P&ID) drawings.
Compile detailed punch-lists of items to be closed out.
Upload punches onto the relevant punch system and update project punch system with closed out punches.
Supervise trade resources, if required, assigned to close out punches.
Attend daily/weekly punch status meetings to discuss priorities and advise on status.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date as-building of isometrics.
Ensure the maintenance of high-quality standards throughout the project.
Monitor and ensure the quality of welding and fabrication aligns with client quality matrix and plan.
Assist quality audits of the pipe fabrication and welding process, identify areas for improvement.
Ensure the quality of welding and high purity pipe install aligns with client requirements.
Conduct thorough visual inspections of welds to assess quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant standards and specifications (e.g., EN, ISO).
Maintain detailed records of all inspections, test results, and findings. Prepare clear and concise inspection reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that welding activities adhere to industry codes, standards, and customer requirements. Provide guidance on code interpretation and compliance.
Collaborate with quality control teams to identify and address welding defects, deviations, and non-conformities. Implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in welding technology. Provide training and mentorship to junior inspectors and welding personnel.
Promote a culture of safety in all welding activities. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards related to welding operations.
Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment and tools to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Ensure all Welding equipment is Calibrated and all Welding equipment is in correct working order,
Inspect and sign off daily Coupons, ensure all Coupons are stored correctly
Inspect and Sign off all WELD Logs including 100% Field weld inspection and that weld heat numbers are tracked correctly
Communicate with customers and external inspection agencies as required, ensuring transparency and collaboration in inspection processes.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes, quality, and efficiency.
Requirements
Mechanical Engineering 3rd Level Degree or National craft certification in pipefitting / Welding
Knowledge of Piping Systems and LSPs (P&IDs) essential.
Previous experience in a similar Weld Inspection / QC role, preferably in Semi-conductor or Pharma/Biopharma projects.
Experience with Data Centre projects will be considered.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using online databases for QA documentation
Certification as a Welding Inspector (e.g. IIW, IWE, EWE, CSWIP) is required.
Extensive experience (2+ years) in welding inspection in a relevant industry.
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
In-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., EN, ISO).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Familiarity with NDT methods and equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
