Writer and Marketing Senior Associate, University Communications / 大学传播部撰稿及市场运营高级助理

About this role

Position Summary

The Writer and Marketing Associate will work within University Communications’ marketing team to develop and create online and print content, including news articles, feature stories, research news, videos, social media content, and other materials that feature and promote the University’s research, academic initiatives, student achievements, and general school activities. Of key importance will be working with colleagues from NYU Shanghai’s research institutes, academic departments, and other administrative units to strengthen the University’s academic reputation, institutional identity, and public visibility.

 

The main responsibilities include:

 

Responsibility A (60%)

  • Identify, develop, and write news articles, feature stories, and other editorial content related to the achievements of NYU Shanghai’s research institutes, academic departments, faculty, students, and programs;
  • Translate complex research topics into accessible, accurate, and engaging stories for general audiences, covering a wide range of areas from quantum physics and neuroscience mechanisms to aging studies and social science research;
  • Plan and maintain the research section of the University’s weekly newsletter, ensuring regular research visibility throughout the academic year.

Responsibility B (30%)

  • Assist in the development of innovative marketing and communications strategies to support admissions, academic program promotion, research visibility, and the University’s overall name recognition.

Responsibility C (10%)

  • Maintain strong lines of communication between University Communications, research institutes, academic departments, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and effective content development.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Experience

  • At least two years of writing/marketing experience, preferably more.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent English speaker and writer;
  • Mandarin Chinese proficiency (speaking, listening, reading, cultural) required;
  • Strong writing, translating, interviewing, and research skills;
  • Ability to translate scientific and academic findings into engaging research news pieces, social media posts, and graphic presentations for a general audience.
