Gallagher & Mohan work exclusively within the real estate industry. Our mission is to provide financial analysis, marketing, and accounting support to our clients. Our clients are real estate-focused private equity investors, developers, fund managers, brokers, and other industry leaders. We pride ourselves on our quality, our strong communication, and our work ethic. We are a natural extension of our client's existing infrastructure. The type of transactions we currently work on range from multifamily apartment communities to large-scale office towers across the United States and European markets, and range in value sizes from $25 million USD – $500+ million USD.

What we are looking for:-
We are seeking an Accountant – Property Accounting to oversee financial management and reporting for a portfolio of real estate properties. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals and analytical skills, hands-on experience in property accounting, lease structures, reconciliations, and month-end close processes, while managing complex financial data and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Job responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and forecasts; monitor budget variances and provide detailed analysis and explanations for deviations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries for all property-related transactions, including rent, expenses, accruals, and capital expenditures.
  • Oversee AP and AR processes for property transactions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.
  • Prepare and review annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations in line with lease agreements and industry standards.
  • Assist in property tax filings and coordinate with external tax consultants to ensure compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor queries.
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, ROI evaluation, and performance insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control within the property accounting function.

Requirements:
  • CA Qualified (most preferred).
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in accounting, with relevant experience in property accounting.
  • Minimum 1+ year of hands-on Yardi experience (must-have).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

You must have:
  • CA Qualified (preferred).
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, with property accounting exposure.
  • 1+ year of hands-on Yardi experience (non-negotiable).
  • Solid grounding in GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Sharp analytical and communication abilities.
