Operational Accounting is where trivago's finance journey begins. Every incoming and outgoing invoice accounted for, every month-end accrual and reconciliation done right: this is the foundation the entire company's financials rest on. As an Accounts Payable/Receivable Accountant, you'll support the maintenance of accounts, procedures, and policies, and you'll review as much as you prepare, bringing judgment to the monthly rhythm of payable and receivable records. Over twelve months you'll take ownership of complex reconciliations and escalated queries, improve how AP and AR work end to end, and support colleagues earlier in their careers. How you'll make an impact:

• Prepare and review routine month-end and quarter-end closing tasks and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review routine monthly and quarterly SOX controls.
• Process and review customer and vendor related tasks.
• Suggest improvements to the accounts payable and accounts receivable end-to-end processes.
• Find solutions for operational accounts payable and receivable problems, including escalated queries.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across units to improve operational processes, and respond to standardized daily task audit requests from Internal and External Audit.

What you'll need to thrive:

• A qualification in accounting or equivalent practical experience, with a solid grounding in accounts payable and receivable operations.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft D365 or a comparable ERP system, and confidence working with data and reporting to handle advanced information requests.
• The judgment to work within broad guidelines with very little oversight, prioritizing complex or escalated tasks, recommending better ways of working, and reviewing or guiding colleagues earlier in their careers.
• Strong collaboration skills paired with a genuine learning mindset: you build good working relationships across teams, seek out feedback, and keep looking for ways to develop and grow. You're comfortable working in English, trivago's company language.
• A performance mindset: you set ambitious goals for yourself and have the determination and resilience to follow through and achieve them.
• An open and curious mindset toward AI tools and automation. Accounts payable and receivable are changing fast, from invoice capture and matching through to reconciliation and ERP workflows, and you're excited to explore how these tools can enhance your work and to grow alongside them.
