Required Degree:
A Master's or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.
Duties/Expectations:
Successful applicants will teach SFL 357: Therapeutic Play Foundations, a 3-credit independent study class and/or day class to undergraduate students. Successful applicants should plan to be:

By the end of the semester students in this class should be able to:
Explain Play Principles and Distinguish Between Licensed and Unlicensed Therapeutic Play
Explain the principles of play and distinguish between therapeutic play and licensed play therapy, including their roles across professional and home-based settings.
Analyze Benefits and Process of Communication and Learning Through Play
Analyze how children communicate and learn through play and how can support children's emotional regulation and overall development throughout childhood.
Examine Play Modalities and Facilitative Skills
Examine a range of play modalities and facilitative skills that can be used in play with children. Link to Program Outcomes: None
Evaluate Relationships and Connection in Play
Evaluate the role of relationships, including adult-child and sibling interactions, in fostering connection and growth through play.
Implement Effective Responses to Children and Boundaries in Play
Implement effective, relationship-centered strategies for responding to children, including the creation of healthy boundaries during play.
Design Supportive Play Environments and Experiences
Design supportive play environments and experiences that promote engagement, autonomy, and well-being.
