Internship overview

This internship offers a Dutch/Belgian student the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the development and implementation of an organizational AI governance framework, within a regulated and data‑driven environment, whereby data privacy compliance is critical. The internship is primarily focused on supporting the organization in establishing a structured, sustainable, and compliant approach to the use of artificial intelligence, including policies, processes, and non-technical controls governing AI systems across their lifecycle. While the core focus is on AI, the internship also integrates core data privacy principles and regulatory requirements, recognizing that effective AI governance fundamentally relies on strong GDPR-aligned data protection practices.

The internship is learning‑oriented and does not require a dedicated end project, though a formal assignment or report can be arranged if required by the educational institution.

Objective:

The primary objective of the internship is to enable the student to actively support the design, development, and implementation of an AI governance framework, while building practical understanding of privacy and regulatory compliance. Specific objectives include:

Supporting the development of an AI governance framework aligned with business needs and regulatory expectations

  • Understanding and applying key requirements from the EU AI Act (where applicable).
  • Integrating data privacy (GDPR) principles into AI governance processes.
  • Learning how organizations identify, assess, and manage risks associated with AI systems.
  • Contributing to the creation of sustainable processes for AI lifecycle management, oversight, and accountability.
  • Developing professional skills in structured analysis, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

The intern will receive structured supervision and regular feedback. If required by the educational institution, learning objectives, competencies, and assessment criteria can be formally aligned and documented.
