Android Developer – Ads Platform

The Role 

We are looking for an engineer to help build and evolve our ads & monetisation experience across mobile video and streaming products, focusing on our Android platform. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the user experience while solving complex technical challenges around playback, performance, reliability, and advertising delivery. You will work in a product team, collaborating with other teams, developers, backend engineers, product managers, designers, data/analytics specialists, and commercial stakeholders and partners, to deliver high quality ads experiences for our users.

What your day might look like

• Design, build, and maintain features on our platform, related to ads monetisation in a modern mobile app

• Work with tracking and measurement of ads, and ad decisioning integrations

• Contribute to smooth, reliable ad experiences across live, linear, and on-demand streaming use cases

• Collaborate with backend and platform teams on integrations involving client-side and server-side ad insertion workflows

• Improve app performance, stability, observability, and user experience around ad playback

• Participate in technical discovery, architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and release activities

• Help troubleshoot complex production issues related to playback, ads, analytics, and device-specific behaviour

What we’re looking for 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced developer with a genuine interest in Android development. If you have experience in working with other clients or TV applications, we would be blown away.

Successful candidates also meet all or some of the following:

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with a strong focus on building and scaling Android applications

• Experience developing customer-focused products

• Strong expertise in Kotlin, Java, or modern Android frameworks

• Good understanding of architecture, performance optimisation, testing, debugging, and maintainable code design.

• Experience working in complex mobile user journeys and if there is experience with video playback, streaming, media apps, we would be blown away.

It’s a bonus if you have: 

• Insight into Jetpack Compose and the future of Android UI development

• Experience with advertising technology in media streaming, such as TCF, SSAI, CSAI, VAST, VMAP, ad SDKs, ad tracking, or measurement

• Experience from AVOD, FAST, live streaming, OTT, or other ad-supported video products

• Knowledge of Android media playback frameworks, ExoPlayer/Media3, DRM, analytics, experimentation, or observability

• Experience working with commercial, ad operations, or monetisation stakeholders
