Art Director, Creative Dev, GSS Creative Studio

Creative Studio is seeking an Art Director specializing in Creative Development. This is a people management role responsible for leading a team of Art Directors and Visual Designers, and ensuring the creative work produced by that team is strategically grounded, crafted to a high standard and compellingly presented to stakeholders.

The Art Director, Creative Development sets the creative quality bar for their team. They translate business objectives and audience insights into clear creative direction, guide their team from brief through approved execution, and model the standard for how creative work should be developed, presented and defended. They are as comfortable giving detailed feedback on a design as they are building the strategic narrative behind a campaign and presenting it to senior leadership.
This role is the connective tissue between the Creative Leadership's vision and the day-to-day creative output of the team. The ideal candidate is a strong creative practitioner who has grown into a confident people manager — someone who elevates work through both hands-on direction and team development.

Key job responsibilities
Manage a team of Art Directors and Visual Designers by providing ongoing direction, coaching, and professional development support. Set and uphold high creative quality standards across all team outputs, from concept to final delivery.

Lead the creative development on assigned projects and oversee the process across the team’s portfolio. Translate campaign objectives, brand strategy, and audience insights into clear, strategically grounded creative direction. Construct persuasive narratives to explain creative decisions and connect strategic intent to visual execution.

Present and advocate for creative work to internal stakeholders and senior leadership, ensuring clarity and conviction. Collaborate with ADs specializing in Campaign & Brand and Key Art to align on cross-project creative standards. Partner with Brand Strategy, Insights, and Marketing teams to ground outputs in audience understanding and cultural relevance.

Evaluate stakeholder feedback, guiding the team toward optimal creative paths. Develop creative briefs and concept presentations that enable high-quality execution. Work with the Creative Director to align team output with studio vision and business objectives. Stay updated on trends in entertainment, design, and emerging technologies to inform the team’s creative development.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of driving compelling creative strategy and execution at an agency or in-house creative team experience
- An online portfolio demonstrating concept development, creative direction and high-quality execution across multiple formats and channels.
- Experience managing or mentoring Art Directors, designers or other creative contributors.
- Experience leading creative work from brief through approved execution.
- Solid understanding of brand strategy and the ability to translate strategic inputs into clear, distinctive visual direction.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills for building and presenting creative rationale to senior stakeholders.
- Experience providing clear creative direction and constructive feedback to designers.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and collaborative design tools.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience presenting creative concepts effectively to senior executives
- 8+ years of experience in art direction or creative development within agency or in-house settings.
- Proven track record managing Art Directors or multi-disciplinary creatives.
- Experienced in entertainment, streaming, media, or consumer marketing.
- Developed integrated campaigns for global brands, including regional adaptations.
- Familiar with audience research and performance signals for creative decisions.
- Experienced in crafting creative briefs, positioning documents, and campaign presentations.
- Knowledgeable in motion, OOH, and multi-platform campaign development, as well as AI-assisted workflows.
