The Opportunity:

Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce a search for a full-time 9-month academic year Assistant Professor (Teaching), Career Track faculty position in Pullman, WA. This position is a 3-year, fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal. We seek applicants to teach courses in multiple areas of criminal justice, with a preference for those applicants with experience and interest in teaching in the areas of law and courts.

The job duties will include primarily teaching introductory and upper-division level courses within the Criminal Justice and Criminology curriculum on the Pullman campus and through the Global campus, which is dedicated to online education. You may also potentially teach graduate seminars.

Additionally, you will mentor students, develop and implement high-impact pedagogical practices, and conduct departmental and college service as appropriate.

Your teaching load will be four courses per semester (4/4), representing 80% of the position, with an additional 20% devoted to service.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin their appointment on August 16, 2027.

This is a full time (100% FTE), 9-month, fixed-term appointment for 3 years, with the possibility of renewal.

9-Month Academic Year Salary: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or J.D. ABD will be considered. PhD/ABD must be in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline. Degree must be earned by appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology, or a related discipline.
• Experience teaching legal and/or court related courses.
• Experience teaching online.
