About this role

Position Title:

Assistant Professor, Management

Time Type:

Full time

Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Department of Management in the Erivan K. Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University invites applications for one (1) tenure-track position at the Assistant level in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources. Special consideration will be given to those candidates whose interest in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources in Management includes an emphasis on Ethics and/or Diversity. The position will be effective August 2027.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching responsibilities involve a 3-3 teaching load of three-credit classes in the Fall and Spring semesters, with the opportunity for additional teaching in the summer. Undergraduate, graduate, executive and doctoral teaching can be part of a professor’s teaching load.

  • Teaching at SJU also involves student advising and contributions to the curriculum. The average class size at SJU is 25 students.

  • In terms of research/scholarship, the Management department expects tenure-track faculty to have an active program of research. In line with the SJU Faculty Handbook and Management Department Guidelines, we expect a consistent practice of research as evidenced through working papers, conference presentations, proceedings, book chapters and journal articles.

  • To receive tenure, we require peer/editorially reviewed articles published in or accepted by quality journals and/or book chapters in quality collections.

  • Full-time faculty members in the Management department are expected to engage in university service.  While service choices and assignments can be tailored to a faculty member’s interests, the expectation is that tenure track faculty will make significant service contributions at the departmental, business school and university levels by the time they apply for tenure.

  • Service requirements are greatly reduced in the first year of employment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a doctorate in a business-related area with a major or emphasis in organizational behavior, human resources or a related area.

  • Candidates should have teaching and research interests primarily in organizational behavior/human resources.  Special consideration will be given to those that have interests in Ethics/Diversity.  We may consider ABD candidates who are within six months of graduation, but only those that demonstrate strong research potential.

  • Experience in online education and interest in curricular development are plusses.

  • Excellent teaching skills are essential: the successful applicant will teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with opportunities to teach in the Executive Programs.

  • Applicants must show a proven research record.

  • Entrepreneurship is a tertiary need, but not required.

Pay Transparency:

The estimated pay range for this position is $125,000-130,000 annually. The offered salary will be commensurate with work experience and educational background.
