Job Description

As part of our enterprise AI strategy to speed life‑changing therapies to patients, we are seeking a Product Owner to drive internal data/AI product strategy in support of Accounting and Controllership AI enablement.

Serving as the primary liaison between finance stakeholders and technical teams, you will translate ambiguous and evolving finance needs into a clear, prioritized product roadmap, define success metrics tied to measurable business outcomes and influence both near-term delivery and longer-range data and AI platform evolution.

As the product owner, you will own the product vision, roadmap and stakeholder engagement for AI-enabled automation, reporting, planning and analytics use cases while understanding the technical architecture required to deliver solutions.

Reporting to the Director, Data & AI (Finance), you will collaborate closely with the Data/AI Delivery Lead and technical teams to prioritize features, define success metrics, and drive user adoption across the CFO organization. As the lifecycle owner of a portfolio of solutions, you will continuously improve financial operations decision making at Gilead through AI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end product vision and multi‑year roadmap for a portfolio of AI-enabled capabilities for Controllership and Accounting, balancing enterprise priorities, platform constraints and value realization.
  • Partner with Finance leaders across the CFO organization to identify pain points, define high‑value AI and advanced analytics opportunities, and develop compelling business cases.
  • Translate business objectives into clear product requirements and backlog items, incorporating data architecture, platform constraints, and scalability considerations.
  • Prioritize the product backlog based on business value, risk, technical feasibility, and alignment with enterprise data and AI strategy.
  • Identify gaps between current‑state capabilities and target‑state solutions, influencing Databricks, AWS, and data platform evolution in partnership with technical leaders.
  • Define and track success metrics such as cost reduction, productivity gains, user adoption, and satisfaction; use insights to guide continuous improvement.
  • Drive change management and user adoption, including designing for user experience, stakeholder communications, training strategies, and feedback loops.
  • Facilitate working sessions and design workshops with Finance stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, and architects to align on solution design and trade‑offs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership, applying strong business and financial acumen to evaluate trade‑offs and recommend data‑ and AI‑driven solutions.

Key Skills & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree with relevant experience in product management, analytics, data, or related disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of finance processes including reporting, close, planning, forecasting, and management analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, with a strong track record of translating business needs into scalable data and AI solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influence skills, including the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior Finance leaders.
  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate ROI, cost-to-value trade-offs and long-term platform investments.
  • Solid understanding of data and AI architecture concepts, with the ability to discuss design options and trade‑offs with engineering and data science teams.
  • Familiarity with SAP and modern data platforms such as Databricks and AWS.
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, using metrics‑driven approaches to guide prioritization and delivery.
  • Ability to operate with minimal direction, exercising sound judgment, initiative, and accountability consistent with an Associate Director‑level individual contributor role.
