Summary: Associate Manager, Competitive Intelligence (CI), responsible for delivering high-quality competitive intelligence and strategic insights from the BMS Hyderabad Hub to support global pipeline and in-market assets. This role is primarily a hands-on individual contributor position across secondary and primary intelligence, competitor monitoring, congress intelligence, and strategic assessments. The individual will partner with global CI, Commercial, Medical, Business Development, and R&D stakeholders to translate complex scientific and market intelligence into concise, actionable business recommendations. The role requires strong analytical capability, pharmaceutical industry knowledge, and the ability to operate effectively in a global matrix environment.


 Roles & Responsibilities

• CI Research & KITs/KIQs: Support global CI leads and cross-functional stakeholders in addressing Key Intelligence Topics and Questions through structured intelligence gathering, research planning, and synthesis.

• Secondary & Primary Research: Conduct hypothesis-driven secondary and primary research across clinical, scientific, regulatory, and commercial domains to address business questions and intelligence gaps.

• Pipeline & Competitor Tracking: Monitor competitor pipelines, clinical milestones, regulatory updates, label changes, business development activity, and patent/IP developments; highlight implications for relevant assets and therapeutic areas.

• Congress & Conference Intelligence: Support pre-conference planning, intelligence capture, post-congress synthesis, and stakeholder debriefs for key scientific and medical meetings.

• Strategic Assessments & Analytics: Contribute to competitive landscape assessments, opportunity evaluations, benchmarking analyses, scenario assessments, and decision-support materials for strategy discussions.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Commercial, Medical, R&D, Business Development, and CI stakeholders to clarify business needs, deliver relevant insights, and present recommendations clearly.

• Executive Deliverables: Develop concise, executive-ready insights, competitive assessments, strategic implications, and presentation materials with strong accuracy and on-time delivery.

• CI Capability & Innovation: Contribute to CI frameworks, repositories, best practices, AI-enabled approaches, and advanced analytics applications to improve intelligence generation and delivery.

 

Skills and competencies

• Strong analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and competitive intelligence capabilities.

• Good understanding of pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development, regulatory pathways, commercialization, lifecycle management, and business development.

• Ability to synthesize disparate data sources into clear insights, implications, and recommendations.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop executive-ready outputs.

• Effective project management and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.

• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills in a global matrix organization.


Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Business, or a related quantitative discipline.

• 6-8 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy, consulting, business insights, or related functions.

• Experience supporting Commercial, Medical, R&D, Business Development, or portfolio strategy stakeholders.

• Strong understanding of competitive landscapes, drug development, commercialization, and market dynamics.

• Hands-on experience using pharmaceutical intelligence and commercial/clinical datasets such as Citeline, Evaluate, GlobalData, IQVIA, Trialtrove, BioMedTracker, or similar sources.

• Experience analyzing scientific publications, clinical trial registries, conference materials, investor communications, regulatory filings, and patent information.

• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, AI-enabled research tools, or similar analytics platforms is desirable.

• Experience working in a matrixed pharmaceutical, biotech, consulting, or GCC environment is preferred.
