The Role

As an Outsourced Finance Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence for our clients in a fast paced dynamic team. From providing expert guidance on VAT returns to assisting with the preparation and review of management accounts, you will ensure accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insights.

With a focus on client satisfaction, you will build and maintain strong relationships, addressing issues and offering innovative solutions. From overseeing outsourcing functions to conducting cash flow forecasting, you will be at the forefront of delivering impactful financial services. Key Responsibilities:

Client/Technical Delivery

• Review client VAT returns, identify complex issues, and liaise with the VAT team to ensure accurate compliance and minimise client risk.

• Prepare tailored management reports with insightful commentary to help clients understand financial performance and support informed decisions.

• Manage communication with HMRC for clients, including complex enquiries, reducing client burden and ensuring timely resolution.

• Oversee a portfolio of clients as the primary contact, building strong relationships and providing proactive business advice.

• Review work from team members and offshore teams to ensure quality and completeness, while maintaining the firm’s high standards.

• Identify and prevent scope creep by promoting efficient processes and tools, safeguarding margins and productivity.

• Support internal and external quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with professional standards and continuous improvement.

People / Team Management

• Support ongoing training and development for team members at all levels to build skills, boost performance, and strengthen the team.

• Actively manage and mentor direct reports, supporting their growth and career progression within the firm.

• Demonstrate effective communication within the team, providing regular reporting and feedback
  

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

• Part-qualified/qualified (CIMA or ACCA) or qualified by experience – Strong technical grounding in accounting and finance.

• Experience managing a client portfolio – Proven ability to deliver consistent service across multiple clients.

• Broad accounting background across various industries – Flexible and adaptable to different client needs.

• Good technical knowledge in cloud accounting, management accounts, VAT, and bookkeeping – Ensures accurate and compliant financial reporting.

• Proficient in key software tools (e.g. Xero, Dext, Syft, Gravita tech stack) – Confident working in modern digital finance environments.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – Builds strong relationships and communicates effectively at all levels.

• Proactive, enthusiastic, and client-focused – Positive attitude that supports highquality service.

• Comfortable working with offshore and remote teams – Effective in a collaborative, distributed work model.

Key Details

• Our standard working week is a 37.5-hour week on a hybrid basis (with up to 50% of your time across the month home based and the other 50% office based)

• Core working hours are 10am - 4pm Monday to Friday
