Automation Engineering Intern

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity to participate in our on-site summer internship. The team is seeking a Automation Engineer Intern. The person in this role will report to the Automation Engineering Leader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working in corroboration with Automation engineering team members on challenges such as ensuring automation cluster and backup strategy of all automation devices for data recovery.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain work procedures and troubleshooting processes for automation systems
• Ensure equipment and process reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, and standardizing work methodology in the automation environment

Qualifications

• Junior or Senior year student working toward a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• Solid business acumen
• High interest in becoming an Automation engineer in a manufacturing environment
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills
• Grade point average (GPA) of >= 3.0 out of 4.0

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL programming and relational databases
• Experience in Cisco server management and virtualization: Preferably VMware
• Experience in Windows operating system management and configuration as it pertains to a networked manufacturing environment
• Experience in software development with Microsoft Visual Studio / Development tools and C#, JSON, C++ and VB.Net and PLC systems programming is a plus

For this role, the pay is from $25.00 USD / hour. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance.

Novelis Oswego is located in northern Central New York on the shores of Lake Ontario and employs approximately 1200 people.
